Opening Ceremony of the 2025–2026 academic year: Nam Can Tho University – a new beginning, a new height

On the morning of September 23, 2025, at the Central Hall – Zone D, Nam Can Tho University solemnly held the Opening Ceremony of the 2025–2026 academic year in a dignified, joyful, and enthusiastic atmosphere. This special event marked the beginning of a new academic year while welcoming nearly 5,000 freshmen of Cohort 13 officially joining the DNC family, raising the total number of students and learners at the university to more than 23,000.

The ceremony was conducted with great solemnity and had the honor of welcoming distinguished guests:

Mr. Đỗ Thanh Bình – Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee;
Mr. Lư Văn Điền – Former Member of the Party Central Committee, Former Secretary of the Can Tho Provincial Party Committee;
Mr. Lê Nam Giới – Former Member of the Party Central Committee, Former Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee;
Mr. Phạm Thanh Vận – Former Standing Deputy Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee;
Mr. Nguyễn Văn Khởi – Member of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Can Tho City;
Mr. Nguyễn Du – Member of the City Party Committee, Chief of Office of the Can Tho City Party Committee;
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trần Trung Tín – Rector, Can Tho University.

Extending his congratulations and acknowledging the achievements Nam Can Tho University has made in recent years, Mr. Nguyễn Văn Khởi – Member of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Can Tho City – affirmed: “DNC has been and is becoming a bright spot in the city’s and the Mekong Delta’s higher education system, not only training high-quality human resources but also actively engaging in scientific research and community service.”

In the celebratory atmosphere, Dr. Nguyễn Văn Quang – Party Committee Secretary and Rector – emphasized DNC’s strategic orientation for the new academic year: “We will continue to innovate our curricula, strengthen international cooperation, enhance teaching quality, and foster a modern, friendly learning environment where students can fully realize their potential.”

To recognize and encourage students’ academic efforts, the University awarded two Entrance Valedictorian Scholarships, each worth 15,000,000 VND, to the top-scoring admits:

Student Lê Phát Đạt, Medicine

In addition, many students with outstanding results in the 2024–2025 academic year were awarded scholarships totaling over 300,000,000 VND, along with support scholarships for students in difficult circumstances who continuously strive to succeed. In the 2025–2026 academic year, DNC has also allocated more than 6 billion VND in preferential scholarships for newly admitted students in 2025.

For the new academic year, Nam Can Tho University continues to advance its international integration strategy by launching 10 academic programs taught entirely in English:

Especially at the ceremony, Nam Can Tho University was honored to receive a Certificate of Merit from the Chairman of the People’s Committee of Can Tho City, presented to 08 collectives and 23 individuals for outstanding performance in the 2023–2024 and 2024–2025 academic years. This well-deserved recognition serves as a strong motivation for the University community to continue striving, innovating, and creating in the time ahead.

In the 2025–2026 academic year and the years to come, Nam Can Tho University will continue to implement practical initiatives to improve training quality and expand international cooperation. The University will: develop internationally benchmarked programs that closely link theory with practice; boost scientific research and innovation; encourage students to join projects applying new technologies; and strengthen partnerships with businesses and organizations at home and abroad to broaden opportunities for internships, employment, and entrepreneurship. At the same time, DNC is committed to building a modern, friendly, and experience-rich learning environment that nurtures a generation of dynamic, confident students ready for global integration.

With these strategic steps, Nam Can Tho University reaffirms its determination to become a prestigious hub of knowledge – a place that empowers Vietnamese youth to integrate confidently and pursue sustainable development.

The Opening Ceremony of the 2025–2026 academic year not only marks the beginning of a new school year, but also the start of a new intellectual journey — where the will, passion, and aspirations of DNC students are nurtured to reach new heights.
