DNC - In the joyful atmosphere of the upcoming Lunar New Year and as part of the special event series marking the inauguration of the DNC Health Science Institute. On the Morning of January 22, 2025, Nam Can Tho University was honored to welcome Comrade Tran Thanh Man, a Politburo Member and Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, along with the National Assembly delegation, to visit and work at the university.
Representing Nam Can Tho University in welcoming Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the delegation were Dr. Nguyen Tien Dung (Chairman of the University Council), Dr. Nguyen Van Quang (Rector), members of the Board of Management, leaders of various departments, faculties, centers, and affiliated institutes, as well as lecturers and students of the university.

During the visit, Chairman Tran Thanh Man engaged in discussions with the university’s Board of Management about the achievements of the past year and the future development orientations. He commended the university for its efforts and contributions in training programs related to Engineering, Technology, Healthcare, and International Cooperation. Chairman Tran Thanh Man also shared updates on the nation’s development and reform progress, as well as that of Can Tho City in recent years.
Furthermore, he emphasized that Nam Can Tho University should continue to focus on developing human resources for the Mekong Delta region, strictly adhering to the Party’s resolutions, particularly Resolution 57-NQ/TW, which emphasizes breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation. He encouraged the university to invest in infrastructure, maintain the educational principle of "First learn propriety, then learn knowledge," and enhance teaching quality, ensuring a balance between theory and practice. Strengthening the professional qualifications of lecturers and providing them with further training were also highlighted. Simultaneously, the university should foster stronger connections between students, families, and society. With these efforts, the university should strive to become a leading institution in the near future.
Dr. Nguyen Tien Dung, Chairman of the University Council and President of Nam Can Tho University Hospital Company, acknowledged Chairman Tran Thanh Man’s guidance. He affirmed that Nam Can Tho University would continue to effectively implement the Party’s resolutions and policies, significantly contributing to improving training quality, promoting scientific research, and supporting the socio-economic development of the local community.

Nam Can Tho University serves as a multidisciplinary training institution, nurturing and developing a workforce of professionals and staff to meet societal trends. The university has achieved numerous prestigious awards for scientific research in various fields such as Medicine, Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and Environmental Studies. Furthermore, the university is welcoming international students to pursue their studies on campus. By 2030, Nam Can Tho University aspires to become a high-quality training center, providing human resources that meet labor market demands, societal needs, and fostering international cooperation in healthcare, socio-economics, and science-technology, gaining a reputation comparable to leading universities in Vietnam and the Southeast Asia region.

During his visit, Chairman Tran Thanh Man also toured key facilities of the university, including the DNC Health Science Institute, the Spiritual Park, the preclinical hospital, smart classrooms, specialized training rooms, as well as other advanced infrastructure and modern equipment designed to support teaching and learning for both domestic and international students.

At the conclusion of the visit, the Chairman and the National Assembly delegation presented a meaningful gift to the university’s leadership as a token of goodwill. In return, the university prepared a commemorative gift to honor Chairman Tran Thanh Man.

The visit and working session with Chairman Tran Thanh Man was a great honor and source of pride for the entire leadership, faculty, staff, and students of Nam Can Tho University. The event marked the 12th anniversary of the university's establishment and the celebration of Lunar New Year 2025. It also served as a powerful motivation for the university community to uphold their achievements, carry forward their proud traditions, and diligently pursue the strategic development of high-quality human resources. The university is committed to making meaningful contributions to society and striving to excel in future endeavors.
