Professor Xuân is currently the Honorary President of Nam Can Tho University. For decades, he has been a leading figure in agricultural science in Vietnam and a mentor to generations of researchers. He is especially known for developing many high-quality rice varieties in the Mekong Delta region, earning him the nickname “the father of Vietnamese rice.”
