I. Introduction
Purpose and Meaning of the Alumni Association
- The Alumni Association of Nam Can Tho University (DNC) is a deeply meaningful
organization, founded and supported by Nam Can Tho University, with the goal of building a
sustainable, connected, and comprehensively developed community of former students who once
studied, researched, trained, and grew under the roof of DNC.
- The Association is a gathering place of affection, knowledge, and aspiration -
a common home where alumni, no matter their position or field, can return, reconnect, and
share. Operating under the motto “Connection - Companionship - Value Sharing,” the
Association functions on a voluntary, non-profit basis, serving as a bridge between the
past, present, and future of DNC students, contributing to affirming the university’s brand
and reputation in the journey of developing higher education in Vietnam.
Alumni Network and Its Role
- With over a decade of formation and development, Nam Can Tho University has
built a prestigious reputation, with over 15,000 graduates who are now living, working, and
contributing to society across the country and in many nations worldwide. They are
engineers, doctors, educators, entrepreneurs, lawyers, researchers... who continue to spread
the spirit of academic excellence, creativity, and social responsibility of DNC students in
modern society.
- Therefore, the DNC Alumni Association is not only a need for connection, but
also a strategic part of building the DNC community brand - a modern, intellectual,
cohesive, and socially responsible academic community. The Association is not merely a list
of names, but a space of gratitude, companionship, sharing, and mutual development among
generations of students, faculty, and the university.
Contributions and Future Vision
- Through the Association, alumni will have the opportunity to contribute to
current students’ development via mentoring, career orientation, scholarships, business
collaboration, and social - charitable activities. It is also a channel for the university
to receive feedback and affirm the quality of its training through its graduates.
- The Alumni Association of Nam Can Tho University is more than an organization -
it is a “second home” that nurtures pride, builds trust, and inspires generations of DNC
students to look back to their roots, to preserve and promote Vietnamese intellectual
values, integrate globally, and contribute meaningfully to the development of the homeland
and the nation.
II. Functions and Duties
1. Functions
Connection and Gathering: Serve as a focal point to maintain and develop relationships among alumni
and between alumni, current students, and the university.
Support and Development: Support alumni in their careers and lives, and serve as a bridge for alumni
to contribute to the development of the university and society.
Orientation and Inspiration: Provide career orientation, share experience, and inspire passion for
current DNC students.
2. Duties
Maintain and develop the alumni network
- Build and regularly update a database of alumni.
- Organize reunions, alumni meetings, and class reunions to foster unity and
connection.
- Establish sub-associations by region, profession, or cohort for deeper
connection.
- Develop information channels to share job opportunities, business partnerships,
and other useful resources.
- Organize seminars, workshops, and short-term courses to enhance alumni
knowledge and skills.
- Establish a support fund for alumni facing difficulties or launching start-up
projects.
Contribute to university development
- Provide feedback and suggestions for training programs, development strategies,
and educational activities.
- Assist in student recruitment and promote the university’s image and brand.
- Foster cooperation between the university and companies or organizations where
alumni work.
- Mobilize sponsorship for scholarships and other student-related activities.
- Organize experience-sharing sessions on academic, internship, and career
orientation topics.
- Connect students with internships and job opportunities through alumni
networks.
- Provide scholarships and awards for outstanding or disadvantaged students.
- Join the university in extracurricular, volunteer, and cultural - sports
activities.
Build community image and values
- Organize charitable activities and contribute to society.
- Promote the tradition of “Gratitude to those who came before,” and honor
teachers and alumni contributions.
Enhance the reputation and social standing of the DNC Alumni Association
- The Alumni Association helps build the DNC brand by uniting alumni in ways that
promote the university's vision and mission locally and internationally.
III. Development Orientation
In the coming time, the Alumni Association of Nam Can Tho University will
focus
on the following key areas:
- Complete the alumni database system and develop the Association’s official digital
portal.
- Establish professional groups and alumni clubs by field to promote academic
exchange, career cooperation, and mutual support.
- Regularly organize seminars, workshops, networking events, and mentoring programs
between alumni and current students.
- Build a fund to support disadvantaged students and start-up projects, spreading the
spirit of solidarity and social responsibility of DNC students.
- Strengthen communication and promotion of outstanding alumni, aiming to inspire
pride and motivation within the DNC community.
