I. Overview
Along with the development process of Nam Can Tho University, the Faculty of Economics, with its
rich tradition in training, research, and technology transfer, has continuously matured and grown,
contributing to the development of human resources from bachelor's to master's levels in the fields
of economics and management.
Formation and Structural Development

The Faculty of Economics, formerly the Faculty of Economics - Business Administration, was
formed concurrently with the establishment of Nam Can Tho University. Initially, it
comprised two departments: Business Administration and Accounting – Finance.

From 2015 to 2018, six other departments were established: Department of Economic Law,
Department of Accounting, Department of Public Relations, Department of Tourism and Travel
Service Management, Department of Real Estate Business Administration, and the Department of
Finance separated from Accounting – Finance.

In 2018, the Department of Economic Law became the Faculty of Law. In 2020, the Department
of Tourism and Travel Service Management became the Faculty of Tourism and Hotel &
Restaurant Management. In 2023, the Departments of Business Administration and Marketing
became the Faculty of Business Administration and Marketing.

After the separation of departments into distinct faculties, the Faculty of Economics
currently comprises: Department of Accounting, Department of Finance and Banking, and
Department of Public Relations and Multimedia Communication.
II. Functions and Responsibilities
Training and Professional Work
-
The Faculty of Economics develops, updates, and adjusts training programs for its majors,
overseeing bachelor's, master's, and doctoral level training. Lecturers continuously improve
teaching methods, diversify assessment approaches, and regularly enhance their professional
qualifications to ensure the quality of teaching and research.
Scientific Research Projects
-
Annually, the Faculty undertakes grassroots-level and provincial/city-level scientific
research projects, compiles textbooks and lecture notes, and publishes articles in reputable
domestic and international journals.

The Faculty participates in the quality accreditation of training programs and coordinates
the assessment of higher education quality according to the UPM standard system.
III. Activities

The Faculty has supplied approximately 3,200 bachelor's graduates and 60 master's graduates,
with over 90% of graduates securing stable employment. The bachelor's and master's programs
in Business Administration have met the accreditation standards of the Ministry of Education
and Training. The Faculty also develops new programs upon request, launching majors such as
Logistics and Supply Chain Management; Marketing; E-commerce; Industrial Management, etc.,
and has designed and built an advanced program for the Business Administration major,
currently implementing a doctoral training program in Business Administration.

During the 2015-2022 period, the Faculty carried out 3 provincial-level projects and 8
university-level projects, with 15 projects successfully completed. Faculty lecturers
regularly publish papers in reputable domestic and international journals and have compiled
numerous textbooks, some of which have been reprinted multiple times.

The Faculty completed the accreditation for the Business Administration program at the
Bachelor's level (2019) and Master's level (2021). The Faculty also participated in the
institutional quality accreditation in 2017, 2020, and prepared for accreditation at the end
of 2022.
IV. Development

To perfect and enhance the quality of the staff and faculty team, ensuring sufficient
numbers and strength in expertise, qualifications, and capabilities; recruiting lecturers
from prestigious educational institutions worldwide.

To develop the majors within the Faculty, building highly application-oriented training
programs that help students develop strong political thinking, in-depth knowledge, and
integrate well into the business environment.
Boosting Scientific Research

To enhance the scientific research capacity of lecturers and students, focusing on applied
research that meets socio-economic development needs, linking learning with practice.

To establish domestic and international cooperation, linking scientific research with
practical needs, exchanging experiences in training and research.
V. Organizational structure
With a dynamic team of lecturers, possessing extensive teaching experience and dedication to the
profession, the Faculty of Economics ensures the quality of training and research through highly
qualified academic staff and a well-structured organization.
Organizational Structure and Departments

Currently, the organizational structure of the Faculty of Economics - Nam Can Tho University
includes: the Faculty Dean's Board, the Faculty Council, the Department of Business
Administration and Public Relations, the Department of Finance and Banking, the Department
of Accounting, the Department of Industrial Management and Logistics Management, and the
Department of Marketing and International Business.
Academic Team and Guest Lecturers

The current staff and faculty of the Faculty of Economics hold Master's degrees or higher,
including Doctoral degrees, Associate Professors, and PhDs with high professional
qualifications ensuring the quality of teaching and scientific research.

Participating in teaching at the Faculty is also a team of visiting lecturers from domestic
and international universities, businesses, agencies, and banks who share knowledge and
experience with learners.
