I. Overview
The Faculty of Information Technology (FIT) was established under Decision No.
02/QD-CTHĐT-ĐHNCT dated January 10, 2022, issued by the Chairman of the University Council of Nam
Can Tho University, following its separation from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology. FIT
serves as a unit for education, scientific research, and technology transfer under Nam Can Tho
University.
II. Functions and Responsibilities

In terms of academic training, the Faculty of Information Technology is responsible for
managing seven undergraduate programs: Information Technology; Software Engineering;
Computer Science; Computer Networks and Data Communications; Specialized in Semiconductor
Circuit Design; Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology; and Artificial
Intelligence.

At the graduate level, the Faculty offers one program: the Master’s degree in Information
Technology.

In addition to these programs, the Faculty also delivers courses in Basic Informatics and IT
proficiency as part of the university’s general education requirements.
Scientific Research and Technology Transfer

In the area of scientific research and technology transfer, the Faculty of Information
Technology undertakes applied research in information technology, aiming to support teaching
activities and meet the evolving demands of societal development.
III. Activities
Program Development and Student Enrollment

Under the management of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, from 2016 to 2022, seven
cohorts of students were admitted to the Information Technology program. In 2021, the
University expanded its academic offerings by introducing the Software Engineering and
Computer Science programs. In 2022, additional enrollments began in the fields of Computer
Networks and Data Communications, as well as a Master’s program in Information Technology.

By 2024, the University plans to launch new programs in Electrical and Electronic
Engineering Technology and Computer Science (Semiconductor Design), with further expansion
to include Artificial Intelligence anticipated in 2025.

To date, a total of 12 cohorts across these disciplines have been trained, comprising
approximately 2,500 students, of whom around 700 graduated in the years 2020, 2021, 2022,
2023, and 2024.
Teaching Contributions and Achievements

Faculty members of the Information Technology Department actively participate in teaching
basic computer science courses for students across the University, as well as delivering
core IT curriculum for the Center of Graduation Standards and Human Resource Development.

Thanks to the great efforts of the teaching staff, the Information Technology Department has
excellently fulfilled its assigned responsibilities.
IV. Development
Development Orientation and Strategic Focus

The Faculty of Information Technology at Nam Can Tho University focuses on enhancing the
quality of education, introducing new academic programs, developing master's degree
training, and improving the curricula of Computer Science and Software Engineering programs.

Additionally, the Faculty will intensify research in Industry 4.0 technologies such as IoT,
Big Data, and Artificial Intelligence, while collaborating with the DNC Software Development
& Application Center to facilitate student internships, commercialize research projects, and
promote staff exchanges.

Furthermore, the Faculty will consolidate its departments, organize activities for the
Information Technology Club, seminars, and extracurricular programs to enhance students’
skills and foster creativity.

Simultaneously, it will seek international partners to expand cooperation in training and
research, contributing to the overall development of the University and the region.
V. Organizational structure
Organizational structure of the Faculty of Information Technology

The organizational structure of the Faculty of Information Technology is arranged in a
hierarchical model. The Faculty’s leadership is composed of the Faculty Board, which manages
three departments: the Department of Information Technology, the Department of Computer
Science, and the Department of Computer Networks and Data Communications, along with the
Faculty Office. Each department is directly responsible for managing its respective academic
programs.

Additionally, the Faculty Council serves as an advisory body to the Faculty Board on matters
related to scientific research, education, faculty development, and other important tasks as
required by the University. The Information Technology Club and the English Club provide a
platform for students to participate in activities aimed at fostering creativity and
enhancing both professional IT skills and English language proficiency.

The faculty members not only teach their specialized subjects but also participate in
delivering basic computer science courses to students across the entire university, as well
as core IT training classes at the Center for Graduation Standards and Human Resource
Development. Through their dedication and strong sense of responsibility, the teaching staff
has significantly contributed to the successful completion of their tasks, most notably
achieving accreditation and meeting the quality standards set by the Ministry of Education
and Training for the Information Technology training program in 2021.

The Faculty of Information Technology at Nam Can Tho University boasts a team of experienced
full-time lecturers who effectively handle the core courses within the curriculum, supported
by visiting lecturers from prestigious universities in the region.
