I. Overview
Faculty of Law was established in 2018, based on a separation from the Faculty of Economics – Law,
according to Decision No. 44/QĐ-CTHĐQT-ĐHNCT issued by the Chairman of the Board of Director of Nam
Can Tho University. The functions and duties of the Faculty of Law are stipulated in the
Organizational and Operational Regulations of Nam Can Tho University and are specifically assigned
by the Board of Director of Nam Can Tho University, as follows:

Firstly, in terms of education and training: Faculty of Law develops, updates, and revises
training programs to ensure that they meet societal needs. Annually, Faculty of Law assigns
lecturers to teach subjects in the undergraduate and master's training programs managed by
the university. In addition, the university is also responsible for teaching general law
subjects for other majors as assigned by the university.

Secondly, in scientific research: Based on the targets assigned by the university leadership
and the research capacity of its lecturers, Faculty of Law annually registers to compile
textbooks, lectures, and implement scientific research projects. Moreover, the Faculty of
Law organizes legal academic seminars and workshops aimed at improving teaching methods and
enhancing the quality of education. Faculty members also publish articles in scientific
journals and conference proceedings both domestically and internationally.

Thirdly, in community service: Each year, faculty members and the Faculty of Law organize
activities to support underprivileged families, orphans, and those in difficult
circumstances; they also mobilize donors to offer scholarships to disadvantaged but diligent
students. The school provides legal consultancy and support for individuals in need.
II. Functions and Responsibilities
The Faculty of Law at Nam Can Tho University is dedicated to training,
scientific research, and community service. The Faculty develops and updates its bachelor's and
master's degree programs, and also teaches general law courses as assigned by the University.
Regarding research, our lecturers prepare textbooks, conduct scientific research projects, organize
workshops, and publish articles in specialized journals. Additionally, the Faculty participates in
various community activities such as providing legal aid, organizing charity events, and awarding
scholarships to disadvantaged students. We also serve as a bridge for collaboration, signing
partnerships and coordinating with agencies and businesses (such as Courts, Procuracies, and Law
Firms) to train highly qualified human resources for the Mekong Delta region.
III. Activities
Over the years, with the guidance and support of the University Council and the
Board of Rectors, along with the outstanding efforts of the Faculty of Law has achieved significant
accomplishments across various areas, as detailed below:

Firstly, in terms of education and training: The Faculty of Law has continuously expanded in
scale and improved the quality of its education and training. Up to now, the Faculty of Law
has had eight graduating cohorts, producing nearly 2,000 graduates with bachelor's degrees
in Law and Economic Law, and over one hundred high-quality Master's degree holders in
Economic Law for the Mekong Delta region in particular and the southern region in general,
serving the socio-economic development needs of these areas.

Survey results show that over 90% of students find employment immediately after graduation.
Graduates from the Faculty of Law at Nam Can Tho University have been positively evaluated
by employers as meeting the demands of the labor market. Currently, the Faculty has obtained
accreditation certificates for the undergraduate training programs in Economic Law and Law.

Based on these achievements, the Faculty of Law has been approved by the Ministry of
Education and Training to offer Master's programs in Economic Law and Law. In the future, it
aims to obtain approval to offer a Ph.D. program in Economic Law.

Secondly, in terms of scientific research: The Faculty of Law has consistently regarded
legal research as a core mission, vital to improving training quality and contributing to
society.

Since its establishment, the Faculty of Law has compiled 7 textbooks and 2 monographs;
organized 6 scientific conferences at faculty and university levels; and led 5
university-level scientific research projects.

To date, lecturers from the Faculty of Law have published nearly 200 scientific articles in
domestic and international journals, as well as in national and international conference
proceedings.
Academic extracurricular activities

Thirdly, regarding academic extracurricular activities: Extracurricular academic activities
are a major focus of the Faculty of Law, aimed at enhancing students' professional and soft
skills. Among them, the Moot Court is held annually as a flagship event. Through studying
and analyzing real, selected legal case files, students are trained in case file research,
legal application, reasoning and debate, public speaking, and teamwork.

Additionally, the Faculty organizes the Legal Olympiad, the “DNC Law Students and Scientific
Research” competition, and invites practitioners and legal experts to the university to
deliver specialized talks. These activities encourage students to improve their legal
research capabilities and gain practical skills.

Furthermore, the Faculty has established a Legal English Club to help students improve their
foreign language proficiency, particularly in legal contexts. The club provides a platform
for students to meet, study, conduct research, and enhance their language skills to meet the
current labor market's demands.
IV. Development

Objective of the Economic Law undergraduate program: The objective is to
train graduates with fundamental knowledge of politics, economics, culture, and society; a
foundational and in-depth understanding of Economic Law; essential soft and professional
skills; and ethical standards suitable for engaging in legal research, drafting, and
enforcement. Graduates will also be equipped to pursue higher education or transition to
other fields, with entrepreneurial capabilities, and adaptability to career shifts in an
integrated economy and the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Objective of the Law undergraduate program: The goal is to produce
graduates with a solid foundation in politics, economics, culture, and society; systematic
and foundational legal thinking and knowledge; along with soft skills, professional skills,
and appropriate legal ethics. Graduates should be capable of conducting legal research,
drafting, and enforcement, with the potential for advanced study or interdisciplinary
transfer. They should also possess entrepreneurial abilities and flexible career
adaptability in the context of global integration and the 4.0 technological revolution.

Objective of the Master of Economic Law program: This application-oriented
program aims to train learners with in-depth theoretical knowledge of the Economic Law
system, enabling them to apply legal knowledge to solve complex legal issues. Graduates will
be capable of independent and creative research and have practical legal skills to meet
labor market demands in the digital transformation era.

Objective of the Master of Laws program: This program aims to train
high-level legal professionals with a solid and deep understanding of the law, systematic
legal thinking, critical thinking, and independent research skills. Graduates will be
capable of analyzing and solving complex legal issues in the context of international
integration and digital transformation. The program also emphasizes professional ethics,
leadership, teamwork, communication, and respect for the rule of law. Graduates may work in
senior positions in government agencies, international organizations, businesses, and
educational or research institutions, or pursue doctoral studies.

Practice within coursework: In addition to theoretical subjects, the
curriculum includes practical skills courses such as legal consulting in civil law, criminal
law, land law, commercial dispute resolution, and banking law, aiming to train students in
legal practice skills.

Practice in extracurricular activities: Students also develop practical
skills through academic activities such as mock trials, public speaking contests, law
olympiads, student research competitions, and legal clubs.

Practice in relevant organizations: Students intern at legal institutions
such as courts, procuracies, judgment enforcement agencies, law firms, notary offices, and
legal departments of enterprises. The University and the School of Law have signed
cooperation agreements with various legal institutions, including the Department of Justice,
Can Tho Industrial Zone Management Board, and local legal practice organizations. The
University has also established a legal consultancy and aid center to facilitate student
legal practice.
V. Organizational structure

The organizational structure of the Faculty of Law includes: the Scientific and Training
Council, the Faculty Management Board, the Department of Law, the Department of Economic
Law, the Faculty Office, and the Faculty Youth Union.

From its inception, both the University and the Faculty have recognized that human resources
are the central factor determining the sustainable development of the Faculty and the
University. Therefore, staffing has always been a top priority.

In terms of administrative personnel, the Faculty of Law is currently led by 01 Dean, 01
Vice Dean, 02 Heads of Departments, and 02 Deputy Heads of Departments overseeing the two
academic divisions. Corresponding to the two training programs offered, the Faculty of Law
is organized into two departments: the Department of Law and the Department of Economic Law.

Although the Faculty of Law is still relatively young, thanks to the support from the
University's leadership and the collective efforts of its staff, the Faculty of Law teaching
team has steadily grown in both quantity and quality.

At present, the Faculty of Law has 54 full-time lecturers, including 4 Associate Professors
with Doctorates, 18 PhDs, and 32 Master's degree holders. In addition, the Faculty of Law
also collaborates with a highly qualified team of visiting lecturers who are currently
working at reputable law training institutions in the region and in legal practice
institutions. This team of professionals plays a vital role in fulfilling the Faculty of Law
teaching and research responsibilities.
