I. Overview
Faculty of Pharmacy - Nam Can Tho University trains high-quality pharmacists with a solid foundation
of professional knowledge, proficient practical skills, and strong professional ethics. Students
study in a modern learning environment equipped with advanced laboratories, the Institute of
Research and Development of Medicinal Plants, and practical facilities such as hospitals,
pharmacies, and pharmaceutical enterprises.
Establishment and Training Programs

The Faculty of Pharmacy was established in 2013 under Decision No. 02/QĐ-CTHĐQT-ĐHNCT dated
February 2, 2013, issued by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Nam Can Tho University.

Currently, the Faculty is assigned to train undergraduate students in Pharmacy through
various programs: regular, bridge (intermediate to university), and second-degree programs.
At the graduate level, the Faculty offers a Master’s program in Pharmacology and Clinical
Pharmacy.
Accreditation and Program Development

In 2024, with the close direction and support from the university leadership, along with the
dedication and efforts of all staff and lecturers, the Pharmacy training program achieved
its second-cycle quality accreditation certification from the Center for Education
Accreditation - Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

This accreditation affirms the program’s quality and its compliance with the standards set
by the Ministry of Education and Training.

The Faculty regularly evaluates its curriculum and collaborates with other educational
institutions, organizations, and enterprises to ensure the relevance and effectiveness of
its training programs.
II. Functions and Responsibilities
The Faculty of Pharmacy - Nam Can Tho University is responsible for training pharmacists at both
undergraduate and postgraduate levels. It organizes teaching, conducts scientific research, compiles
textbooks, supervises internships, and carries out community service activities. The Faculty also
collaborates with hospitals, research institutes, and pharmaceutical enterprises to enhance training
quality while developing a highly qualified teaching staff. All activities aim to provide
high-quality pharmaceutical human resources that meet societal demands and align with international
integration standards.
III. Activities
Achievements and Student Development

Over more than 12 years of operation and development, the Faculty of Pharmacy has achieved
numerous accomplishments recognized by the University. Notably, the Faculty has been awarded
the title of "Excellent Labor Collective" for many consecutive years. Many dedicated
lecturers have consistently received certificates of merit for their outstanding
performance.

Graduates of the Pharmacy program have been well evaluated by employers for meeting the
demands of the labor market. The Faculty has received the Certificate of Accreditation for
its Pharmacy training program from the Scientific Council of Vietnam National University,
Hanoi, and has officially met the national quality standards.

Since 2022, the Faculty has also been authorized to offer a Master's program in Pharmacology
and Clinical Pharmacy.

The Faculty places strong emphasis on both professional and soft skills, including
laboratory practice, medication counseling, teamwork, and pharmaceutical marketing. It also
organizes scientific research training classes for outstanding students working on their
graduation projects.
IV. Development
The Faculty of Pharmacy aims to provide high-quality human resources that effectively meet the
demands of the labor market, and plans to develop and implement a training program for Level I
Specialists in Pharmacy. In addition, the Faculty will strengthen partnerships with hospitals,
research institutes, and pharmaceutical companies to offer students practical internship
opportunities and enhance their professional skills in community healthcare.
By 2030, the Faculty plans to have 50% of its lecturers hold doctoral degrees and will organize
scientific activities to help students develop professional skills in accordance with the standards
of the Ministry of Health. At the same time, it will expand cooperation with reputable international
universities and invite experts to participate in teaching and sharing specialized knowledge and
experience.
V. Organizational structure
Organizational Structure and Academic Staff

As of now, the organizational structure of the Faculty includes the Faculty Management
Board, two assistants (in charge of training and administration), one staff member, and six
specialized departments:
- Department of Botany - Pharmacognosy - Traditional Pharmacy
- Department of Pharmaceutical Management and Economics
- Department of Physical Chemistry - Pharmaceutical Chemistry
- Department of Analytical Chemistry - Quality Control
- Department of Pharmacology - Clinical Pharmacy
- Department of Industrial Pharmaceutical Formulation

The Faculty also collaborates with external lecturers and experts to support short-term
training and research activities, contributing to the enhancement of teaching quality and
academic expertise.

The Faculty of Pharmacy has a dynamic and dedicated team of lecturers with professional
qualifications. Most of them hold doctoral and master's degrees and have many years of
experience working in the healthcare sector. They also possess strong expertise in
management and curriculum development.
