On May 3, 2024, the Delegation of the American Accreditation Commission International - AACI, one of the world's leading organizations providing clinical accreditation and certification programs, with the goal of improving quality and ensuring safety in health care, had a promising meeting and working session with Nam Can Tho University.
This meeting after the signing of the cooperation agreement is a premise for AACI to inform and implement cooperation programs as well as ongoing projects. Here, AACI proposed to cooperate with Nam Can Tho University to promote the program “Medical travel” - medical services, health care combined with tourism, and at the same time train high-quality medical human resources to meet the above programs. The meeting took place in an open atmosphere, marking an important step forward in connecting businesses and academia to meet the increasing needs of the medical market and medical tourism in Vietnam.

AACI has a great commitment to support healthcare organizations around the world achieve and maintain the highest standards by providing accreditation services to a wide range of healthcare facilities, including hospitals, clinics, home care centers, and other healthcare services. Global Healthcare Accreditation (GHA), a recognized global authority on certification and accreditation, focuses specifically on workplace safety, health, and well-being, as well as expertise in medical tourism and wellness.

At the meeting, representatives of the AACI Delegation presented the model of medical services combined with tourism - a trend that is growing strongly globally, especially in countries such as Turkey and India, where AACI has established sustainable cooperative relationships with leading universities and medical institutions. This model not only brings high-quality healthcare experiences to international customers but also creates opportunities to promote Vietnamese culture and tourism, especially in the Mekong Delta region.

AACI wishes to collaborate with Nam Can Tho University to develop short-term and long-term training courses focusing on professional skills such as health service management, international patient care and the application of technology in medicine. These programs will be designed according to international standards, based on AACI's experience in collaborating with universities in Turkey and India.

AACI representatives said that the company is currently supporting 114 medical facilities in the Asia-Pacific region to achieve GHA certification, including programs such as GHA COVID-19 Guidelines, GHA WellHotel Accreditation, and GHA Medical Travel Patient Experience. AACI proposed to coordinate with Nam Can Tho University to incorporate these standards into the training program at Nam Can Tho University and practice at Nam Can Tho University Hospital, to improve service quality and ensure safety for international patients.

After the meeting, the AACI Delegation visited the health training facilities of Nam Can Tho University and Nam Can Tho University Hospital. Here, the Delegation was introduced to the system of modern practice rooms, laboratories and simulation rooms that meet international standards. Nam Can Tho University Hospital, with a scale of 300 beds and key specialties such as cardiology, oncology, and obstetrics and gynecology, left a strong impression on the Delegation.
This meeting not only marks the beginning of the cooperative relationship between AACI and Nam Can Tho University but also demonstrates the shared commitment to improving the quality of healthcare and developing medical tourism in Vietnam. With AACI’s international experience, support from GHA standards, and Nam Can Tho University’s training potential, the two sides expect to create a sustainable medical-tourism ecosystem, contributing to raising the position of Can Tho on the regional medical and tourism map.

In the coming time, the two sides will continue to work to complete cooperation agreements, plan to deploy training programs, services, and apply the first GHA standards. This meeting not only opens up opportunities for students and the Can Tho medical sector but also demonstrates the power of the connection between business and academia in responding to global trends.
