DNC - As part of its ongoing series to connect current students with alumni and provide real-world career insights, Nam Can Tho University hosted Session 5 of the “Hands-on Workshop with Alumni & Students”, themed "Soft Skills – The Unexpected Advantages That Make a Difference."
This session welcomed a special guest speaker: Mr. To Thien Man, an outstanding alumnus from the first cohort of the Business Administration program at DNC. He currently holds the position of Head of General Administration at MISA Company, one of Vietnam’s leading software enterprises, at their Can Tho branch.
In a friendly and open atmosphere, Mr. Man shared his career journey, from a university student with big dreams to a team leader at a top tech firm. Throughout his talk, he emphasized one key factor that consistently helped him stand out and advance in his career: soft skills.
“It’s not just about what you know, but how you apply what you know. Technical skills get your foot in the door, but soft skills help you stay, grow, and lead,” Mr. Man remarked.
The session was highly interactive, with students asking questions about how to balance technical knowledge and soft skills, what hiring managers look for in job interviews, and how to start building these skills in everyday academic life.
This workshop served as both a motivational and practical session, reminding students that success after graduation depends not only on what’s written on their CV, but also on how they present themselves, how they solve problems, and how they connect with others.
By hosting alumni like Mr. To Thien Man, Nam Can Tho University continues to create bridges between classroom learning and professional reality, helping students prepare holistically for a fast-changing and competitive job market.
