On April 5, 2025, at the Yersin Meeting room of the Institute of Health Sciences, Nam Can Tho University successfully welcomed a delegation from Wonkwang University of Health Sciences, Korea and Khoi Nguyen Investment Group when they paid a visit and had a meeting at the University. This event is not only an important milestone in Nam Can Tho University's international cooperation journey but also opens a new chapter for the Vietnamese healthcare industry, where artificial intelligence (AI) and virtual reality (VR) technology become the key to shaping the future of healthcare.

This is a high-tech application project in examination and treatment funded by the Korean government and Nam Can Tho University is honored to be the first partner to pilot this program in Vietnam. Through this, medical students of Nam Can Tho University will experience learning in a VR simulation room, practicing clinical practice without real patients. This is a step forward to help students improve their practical skills, while creating a quality medical human resource in the future.

The mission of “Nurturing knowledge - Creating the future” has always been the guiding principle of Nam Can Tho University. In the context of the 4.0 industrial revolution changing every aspect of life, the medical industry is no exception. Speaking at the discussion,Associate Professor, Dr. Phillip Tran - Director of DNC Institute of Health Sciences, Chairman of DNC International Medical Academic Council said: “We are very interested and have plans to apply AI - VR multi-dimensional virtual reality technology to teaching and training for students majoring in Medicine and International Medicine at DNC in the near future. We are very pleased to cooperate with WonKwang University of Health Sciences, Korea in the project of applying and developing advanced technology in teaching and learning at Nam Can Tho University and Vietnam”.

At the event, the delegation from Wonkwang Health Sciences University shared that in 2025, they would deploy a pilot program to apply AI - VR in disease diagnosis and treatment with the main partner being Nam Can Tho University and the support from Khoi Nguyen Investment Group (KNI) and WonKwang Foundation. In addition, speaking at the meeting, Professor Hwang Hwa Kyoung - Chairman of WonKwang Education Association said: “The orientation of Wonkwang Health Sciences University is to develop the AI - VR application project in medical training into a nationally recognized system in Vietnam and further in Southeast Asian countries, apply ICT and develop Edutech, organize medical academic seminars and scientific research cooperation.”
