On October 14, 2025, at the Yersin Meeting Room – Institute of Health Sciences, Nam Can Tho University solemnly held a signing ceremony for a Memorandum of Understanding with the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) – Canada, marking a significant milestone in its journey toward educational integration and internationalization.

Representing Nam Can Tho University were Dr. Nguyễn Văn Quang - Party Committee Secretary and Rector of the University, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Đỗ Văn Xê - Head of the Office of Research Administration. From BCIT, the event was attended by Mr. Michael Galli - Director of International Recruitment and Partnerships, and Ms. Lisa Wai Ming Chu - Dean of the School of Health Sciences. The presence of senior leaders from both institutions underscored the strong commitment and strategic significance of this collaboration.

Key areas of cooperation between DNC and BCIT

• Exchanging faculty, students, and administrative staff in the fields of medicine and health sciences to foster knowledge sharing and adoption of advanced training practices.
• Developing internationally standardized training programs that incorporate modern technology and applied learning models.
• Conducting joint scientific research and publishing internationally, with a focus on preventive medicine, community health care, and technological applications in healthcare.
• Co-organizing international conferences and thematic seminars to facilitate academic exchange between DNC faculty and students and international experts.
• Encouraging student participation in short-term exchange programs in Canada to promote learning in a multicultural environment.

The collaboration with BCIT is part of Nam Can Tho University’s long-term strategy for the internationalization of education. In recent years, DNC has continuously expanded its partnerships with many prestigious universities and institutes around the world, reaffirming its pioneering role in delivering education aligned with international standards-particularly in the fields of medicine and public health.

With more than 23,000 students enrolled across various disciplines-among which health sciences serve as a key focus—DNC is continuously enhancing the quality of its education, investing in modern infrastructure, applying new technologies, and expanding its network of international partnerships. The signing ceremony with BCIT is expected to provide added momentum for DNC students to access advanced knowledge, strengthen their global integration capabilities, and broaden their international career opportunities.
