On the morning of June 14, 2025, Nam Can Tho University (DNC) had the honor of welcoming the delegation from the Vietnam Association for Logistics Manpower Development (VALOMA) for a visit and working session at the university. The goal was to strengthen cooperation in training, promote research, and develop human resources in the field of Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
During the first working session between the leadership of Nam Can Tho University and the delegation from VALOMA, held in the Yersin Meeting Room at the DNC Institute of Science and Health Building, both sides exchanged information and experiences, and collaboratively developed practical action plans to improve training quality and create favorable conditions for students to access real-world career opportunities. The session was attended by Dr. Nguyễn Văn Quang – Rector, Dr. Trần Hữu Xinh – Vice Rector of the university, along with leaders of departments, faculties, institutes, and centers affiliated with the university. Representing the VALOMA delegation was Mr. Trần Thanh Hải – Deputy Director General of the Import and Export Department at the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Honorary President of VALOMA, along with other delegation members.

Speaking at the session, Dr. Nguyễn Văn Quang, Rector of the university, expressed appreciation for VALOMA's focus on the university’s logistics human resource training. He stated:
“The university appreciates VALOMA's focus on our logistics human resource training. VALOMA will play a key role in the development strategy for the logistics sector at DNC. Meanwhile, the university hopes both sides will strengthen cooperation in training, research, internships, and business connections.

Representing the VALOMA delegation, Mr. Trần Thanh Hải – Deputy Director General of the Import and Export Department – Ministry of Industry and Trade – Honorary President of VALOMA, affirmed:
“In the context of globalization and international economic integration, developing high-quality human resources for the logistics sector is an urgent need. I greatly value the proactive spirit and efforts of Nam Can Tho University in creating training programs that closely align with practical demands. VALOMA commits to supporting and collaborating with the university in training, research, and building connections within the nationwide logistics ecosystem.

During the session, the delegates had detailed discussions about the direction of comprehensive cooperation. Mr. Trần Thanh Huy – Deputy Head of the Department of Logistics and Supply Chain Management, reported on the current training situation in the field, with nearly 500 students in 7 classes, following a 131-credit curriculum taught by a team of 5 PhDs and 28 Masters. The training program effectively combines theory and practice, offering students opportunities to intern at companies, ports, and large factories from early in their studies.

Dr. Hà Minh Hiếu – Deputy Head of VALOMA Communications shared experiences in cooperation with universities, and proposed practical areas of collaboration: supporting documents and textbooks, coordinating to organize seminars and workshops, and expressing readiness to enable Nam Can Tho University to join VALOMA, helping to expand the university’s connection with the business ecosystem in the future.

Dr. Nguyễn Khánh Tùng – Director of Can Tho Institute for Socio-Economic Development proposed strengthening scientific research cooperation and practical application, especially in the context of Can Tho expanding socio-economic development after the administrative merger with Hau Giang.

Continuing the program was the second session — a dialogue between VALOMA and logistics students — held at Hippocrates Hall, DNC Institute of Science and Health Building.
Here, representatives from prominent enterprises and agencies in the logistics field shared valuable insights on the current state of import-export and logistics in Vietnam and globally, as well as industry development trends and human resource needs and requirements in the new phase.

Students of the Logistics program actively interacted, asked questions, and discussed enthusiastically with the experts, thereby gaining a clearer understanding of career paths, job opportunities, and necessary skills in the logistics industry.

Nam Can Tho University signed cooperation agreements with four logistics companies, including Viettel Post Can Tho, Hau Giang Port, Hanh Nguyen Logistics Company, and Vinacontrol Inspection Company (Ho Chi Minh City office in Can Tho). This event marked a significant step in expanding the university's partnership network with businesses, offering students opportunities for real-world career training and internships at well-known logistics firms.

The program concluded with the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Nam Can Tho University and the Vietnam Association for Logistics Manpower Development, along with a symbolic book donation ceremony of logistics textbooks from VALOMA and strategic partners to the university. This meaningful act not only demonstrates businesses’ care for education but also serves as a practical motivation for students to deepen their expertise, improve competencies, and be ready to integrate into a highly competitive labor market.
