On December 20, 2024, Nam Can Tho University held a specialized seminar to disseminate knowledge regarding legal frameworks, development trends, and the fundamental principles of ESG (Environmental – Social – Governance). The program attracted a large number of staff, employees, and lecturers, demonstrating a growing interest in sustainable development issues and modern management practices.

The seminar was organized with the goal of providing participants with a comprehensive overview of ESG in the current market context. Through the program, attendees not only gained a clear understanding of the role and importance of ESG for businesses and organizations, but were also equipped with the necessary practical skills to integrate ESG into development strategies and implement reporting according to international standards, particularly the GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) standards.

The seminar content focused on helping participants to:

• Master current legal frameworks and fundamental principles related to ESG.
• Understand the origins and global development trends of ESG.
• Recognize the importance of ESG in modern business and governance environments.
• Access methodologies for integrating ESG into corporate development strategies.
• Clearly understand the relationship between the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ESG, and the GRI reporting standards.

Report on Environmental – Social – Governance

The program was structured into three main modules:

• Module 1 – Overview and Fundamental Principles of ESG Reporting: Introduces the current legal frameworks for ESG practices, the origins and development trends of ESG, the concepts and benefits of ESG reporting, the correlation between ESG and (SDGs), and common reporting frameworks.
• Module 2 – Implementing ESG Frameworks in Enterprises: Focuses on legal foundations, widely adopted global ESG frameworks, the ESG implementation journey, how to integrate ESG into corporate development strategies, and the reporting process.
• Module 3 – GRI Sustainability Reporting Standards: Provides knowledge on the GRI reporting framework, its purpose and system of standards, reporting principles, and additional recommendations to enhance the quality of sustainability reports.

Through this seminar, Nam Can Tho University continues to affirm its commitment to practical training that stays current with global management trends and sustainable development. This is also a key initiative aimed at enhancing the capacity of its staff and lecturers, creating a foundation for the university and its affiliated units to proactively approach and apply ESG principles. This move targets sustainable growth and deeper international integration in the coming years.
