In celebration of the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution (08/19/1945 – 08/19/2025) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (09/02/1945 – 09/02/2025), Nam Can Tho University organized a series of meaningful activities to educate students on revolutionary traditions and foster patriotism.
In recent days, the University arranged for students to participate in various activities such as visiting the Military Zone 9 Museum—to view and learn about artifacts, images, and documents associated with the August Revolution and National Day (September 2); producing a special music video to celebrate the 80th anniversary of National Day; and joining the “Heritage Route” Back-to-the-Roots Journey—a tour of national relics in Can Tho City.
In a solemn atmosphere, delegations of students and faculty from Nam Can Tho University offered incense to President Ho Chi Minh at the Military Zone 9 Museum. The activity expressed deep gratitude for his immense contributions and selfless devotion to the nation and its people, instilling greater pride in Vietnam’s heroic traditions among students.
The group then visited the thematic exhibition “The August Revolution – A Historical Milestone,” solemnly organized by the Political Department of Military Zone 9. The exhibition comprised three sections: “Historic Autumn,” “The Power of Faith,” and “Following in Glory’s Footsteps.” The display featured more than 300 photos, documents, and artifacts, along with 200 publications on the August Revolution—recreating the heroic spirit of the historic autumn of 1945 and the 80-year journey of struggle, nation-building, and defense. The exhibition not only revisited a glorious chapter of national history but also served as a profound educational event, nurturing patriotism, self-reliance, pride, and a sense of responsibility for safeguarding the Fatherland in the new era.
At the exhibition, Truong Uyen Nhi – Miss Nam Can Tho University – shared:
“Today, I am truly honored to attend the thematic exhibition ‘The August Revolution – A Historical Milestone’ organized by the Political Department of Military Zone 9. Through more than 300 photos, documents, artifacts, and many valuable books, my peers and I were able to relive the heroic atmosphere of the historic autumn of 1945 and more deeply feel our nation’s indomitable spirit, steadfast will, and aspiration for independence.
The exhibition not only helped us better understand the glorious path of our forefathers but also reminded today’s young generation of our responsibility to inherit, preserve, and promote the achievements of the Revolution. Especially when standing before images of President Ho Chi Minh and generations who sacrificed for independence and freedom, I felt more clearly the sacred meaning of today’s peace. For us—students of Nam Can Tho University—the exhibition was a precious lesson, urging each of us to strive harder in study, training, and creativity so as to live up to the nation’s proud traditions and contribute to building a prosperous, civilized country.”
Sharing in the sacred and heroic spirit nationwide, the youth of Nam Can Tho University produced a special music video to celebrate the 80th anniversary of National Day (September 2). The production was coordinated by the University’s Youth Union and Student Association, in collaboration with the DNC Performing Arts Team and the Charming Female Student Club.
Wearing white áo dài and youth uniforms, NCTU students held the national flag and placed their right hands over their hearts—expressing pride and love for the homeland. These evocative images spread a message of solidarity and responsibility among today’s youth in inheriting and promoting revolutionary traditions.
Each melody and lyric not only recreated the nation’s heroic spirit on the historic Independence Day but also affirmed the pride, faith, and responsibility of the younger generation in the cause of national development. The music video is a heartfelt gift to students, staff, lecturers, and the community—spreading love for the homeland and fueling passion for study, self-discipline, and contribution.
The Can Tho Student Association of Nam Can Tho University, in coordination with the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union – Region 4, Cai Khe Ward, organized the “Heritage Route” Back-to-the-Roots Journey. The program was held to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day, while enabling youth members to visit, learn about, and experience national relics in Binh Thuy Ward.
On Can Tho’s cultural–historical map, Binh Thuy stands out as a land of exceptional heritage, preserving the distinctive values of the Southern region. Notably, along Cach Mang Thang Tam, Le Hong Phong, and Bui Huu Nghia streets, visitors can encounter a “string of pearls” consisting of nationally recognized historical, architectural, and cultural sites such as Hoi Linh Ancient Pagoda, the Memorial Site of Scholar Bui Huu Nghia, Nam Nha Duong, Binh Thuy Communal House, the Special Commissioner of the Annam Communist Party – Hau Giang Relic, and Binh Thuy Ancient House—forming a continuous route convenient for exploration. In a short trip, visitors can experience everything from ancient architecture and sacred temples to proud revolutionary landmarks—like a living, compact history book in the heart of Can Tho City.
After the journey, student Le My Duyen of Nam Can Tho University shared:
“This was a truly meaningful journey, giving us the chance to learn more deeply about nationally recognized historical and cultural relics in Can Tho City. Every stop left us with strong emotions and valuable lessons. We came to better understand our forefathers’ resilient struggle, their great contributions to the revolutionary cause, and the cultural–architectural heritage they preserved and passed down.
Through this trip, we love Can Tho even more, take pride in our history, and cherish our heritage. It reminds us to keep studying, training, and living responsibly to be worthy of previous generations. It also motivates us—young people—to continue dedicating our energy to building a more civilized and prosperous Can Tho.”
The series of activities at Nam Can Tho University to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day was not only an occasion to revisit the nation’s golden history but also a journey of traditional education, nurturing ideals among students. From there, young people gain a clearer sense of their responsibility in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland in a period of integration and development.
Through these activities, students developed a deeper sense of responsibility for today’s young generation: to study, train, innovate, and contribute to building a prosperous, civilized nation, while remaining steadfast on the path of national independence associated with socialism. They were reminded of the great sacrifices of previous generations in the struggle for independence—awakening the spirit of “gratitude to the source,” a profound sense of thankfulness, and a conscious commitment to uphold and protect the achievements of the Revolution.
