English has become an essential tool in today’s globalized world, especially for the younger generation. Recognizing the importance of English in education, career development, and everyday communication, Nam Can Tho University organized a highly engaging and insightful Talkshow – Session 5 with the theme: “Breaking Barriers & Picking Up Tips to Learn English.”
The event was designed to create a dynamic and interactive environment where students could not only learn but also share their thoughts, experiences, and concerns related to English learning. It provided a valuable platform for students to connect, exchange ideas, and gain guidance on how to overcome common difficulties in learning the language.
Throughout the session, students were highly engaged, actively listening to the experiences and advice shared by invited speakers—who were professionals and educators with strong backgrounds in language learning and international communication. These guests provided practical insights, motivational stories, and effective learning techniques that students could apply to their own journeys.
One of the key focuses of the Talkshow was addressing the psychological and emotional barriers that many students face when learning English. Fear of making mistakes, lack of confidence in speaking, and feeling overwhelmed by grammar or vocabulary are just some of the common struggles. The speakers offered encouragement and real-life strategies to overcome these obstacles.
“The first step to mastering English is to stop being afraid of it. You don’t need to be perfect; you just need to be consistent,” one speaker emphasized.
Students also learned about different learning resources, apps, and study habits that could enhance their English skills outside of the classroom. From watching English movies and listening to podcasts, to using flashcards and practicing with native speakers online, the Talkshow opened up a variety of fun and practical ways to make English a part of everyday life.
In addition, tips on building vocabulary, improving pronunciation, and preparing for international exams such as IELTS or TOEIC were also shared, helping students create a clearer roadmap for their personal language goals.
The atmosphere of the event was energetic and inspiring. Many students expressed their appreciation for the honest, down-to-earth advice and left the Talkshow feeling more motivated, less afraid, and better equipped to continue their English-learning journey.
Through events like this, Nam Can Tho University continues to show its commitment to providing not only academic knowledge but also life skills and global competencies that empower students to thrive in a competitive world.
