The year 2025 marks a significant turning point as Nam Can Tho University (DNC) announces its strategic vision to become a leading internationally accredited private university in Southeast Asia by 2030.
DNC was recently recognized by Times Higher Education (THE) in the THE Impact Rankings 2025 as a university contributing to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It ranked 11th among the 16 Vietnamese universities included in the rankings.
10 academic programs delivered entirely in English
Nam Can Tho University has announced that in the 2025 academic year, it will offer admissions to 45 full-time undergraduate programs across six key disciplinary groups: Health Sciences, Economics and Management, Engineering and Technology, Tourism and Services, Construction and Environment, and Social Sciences and Humanities. Several new programs have been added to the curriculum, including Artificial Intelligence, Transportation Construction Engineering, and Construction Management.
Also in 2025, the university will launch 10 fully English-taught undergraduate programs, including Health Sciences (International Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing), Engineering and Technology (Information Technology, Construction Engineering, Automotive Engineering Technology), and Economics - Management - Communication (Business Administration, Multimedia Communication, Tourism and Travel Service Management).
Notably, the university has officially been recognized to participate in the USMLE (United States Medical Licensing Examination) program. This program provides students with the necessary tools, knowledge, and skills to pass the USMLE — one of the highest standards for medical practice licensing in the United States.
“Business-in-school” model
With an integrated education-research-entrepreneurship ecosystem, Nam Can Tho University (DNC) has developed the Nam Can Tho University Medical Center, DNC Nam Can Tho Auto Showroom, DNC Health Science Institute, Institute of Medicinal Plant Research and Development, and the Software Development and Application Center, among others.
At Nam Can Tho University, students not only learn theoretical knowledge but also engage in practical work and research right on campus. The “business-in-school” model has become a hallmark, enabling students to gain hands-on experience and professional skills from the very beginning of their academic journey.
Nam Can Tho University has established cooperative agreements with numerous universities in the United States, South Korea, New Zealand, Malaysia, India, and other ASEAN countries.
A notable milestone in 2025 was the successful organization of the ICEIR International Conference, which brought together scholars and experts from around the world. The university is also aiming to establish the Mekong Academic Alliance—an initiative to connect intellectuals in the region and create an academic forum in the Mekong Delta.
