On August 13, 2025, Nam Can Tho University (DNC) had the honor of welcoming Mr. Nguyễn Văn Khởi - Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Can Tho City, along with his delegation, to visit and work at the university. This event marks an important milestone in strengthening the cooperation between DNC and the People’s Committee of Can Tho City, aiming toward sustainable development in education and the community.

The working session took place in a formal atmosphere, with the presence of Mr. Nguyễn Văn Khởi - Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Can Tho City, along with leaders of various municipal departments, agencies, and representatives from offices under the People’s Committee. Representing Nam Can Tho University to welcome the delegation were Dr. Lawyer Nguyễn Tiến Dũng – Chairman of Nam Can Tho University Council and Chairman of Nam Can Tho University Medical Center; Dr. Nguyễn Văn Quang – Part Secretary and Rector of Nam Can Tho University; together with members of the University’s Council, the Board of Rectors, and leaders of the faculties, departments, and centers under Nam Can Tho University (DNC).

The working session began with a tour of the DNC Health Science Institute, where the delegation was introduced to the university’s modern facilities and its outstanding achievements in European-standard medical training and research.

In his summary report, Dr. Nguyễn Văn Quang – Party Secretary and Rector of Nam Can Tho University – presented the university’s outstanding achievements over the past 12 years. With the mission of training high-quality human resources, DNC has continuously innovated its educational programs, developed modern facilities, and promoted both domestic and international cooperation. Dr. Nguyễn Văn Quang emphasized the motto “Learning and Sharing for Sustainable Development,” reaffirming DNC’s commitment to contributing to the growth of Can Tho City and the Mekong Delta region.

Speaking at the working session, Dr. Lawyer Nguyễn Tiến Dũng – Chairman of Nam Can Tho University Council and Chairman of Nam Can Tho University Medical Center – expressed his deep gratitude to the leaders of Can Tho City for their support and companionship throughout the university’s 12 years of construction and development. He also expressed his hope that the city’s leaders and relevant authorities will continue to address difficulties and obstacles faced during the university’s development process.

He emphasized that, to realize the goal of becoming an internationally accredited university, DNC needs support in completing the land fund in accordance with regulations, expediting licensing procedures for the construction of the International Dormitory and other key projects, improving transportation infrastructure connecting to the university medical center, as well as approving land-use plans for the implementation of a new urban area project – including faculty housing, an eco-tourism area, and a nursing home – covering about 100 hectares in Nhon Ai Commune, Can Tho City.

Dr. Lawyer Nguyễn Tiến Dũng also reiterated his wish for the continued companionship and support of the city’s leaders in overcoming challenges so that DNC can soon achieve its international accreditation goal. He affirmed that the support of leaders at all levels will be a vital driving force for DNC to continue reaching new heights and making practical contributions to the nation’s education and healthcare sectors.

The discussion session between the leaders of the People’s Committee of Can Tho City, Nam Can Tho University, and the heads of various departments and agencies featured exchanges, deliberations, and numerous proposals for cooperation aimed at optimizing resources and bringing practical benefits to the university, the community, and society.

At the conclusion of the discussion, Mr. Nguyễn Văn Khởi – Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Can Tho City – delivered a closing speech, acknowledging the efforts and achievements of Nam Can Tho University in education and its contributions to the community. He emphasized the importance of cooperation between local authorities and educational institutions in building a high-quality workforce, and expressed his support for DNC’s development directions in the coming period.

In addition, he affirmed that the leadership of Can Tho City will accompany and support Nam Can Tho University in gradually overcoming remaining challenges, helping the institution soon realize its goal of becoming a prestigious training center in the region and internationally.

The event not only strengthened the cooperative relationship between Nam Can Tho University and the People’s Committee of Can Tho City but also opened up many new opportunities for the development of education, healthcare, and the community in the region.
