On August 15, 2024, Nam Can Tho University (DNC) hosted a unique cultural showcase titled “Áo Bà Ba – Preserving the Beauty of Vietnamese Culture”, honoring the traditional attire of Southern Vietnam through an emotionally rich and meaningful artistic performance. The event took place at the university’s outdoor stage and attracted a large audience of students, faculty, and guests who share a passion for cultural heritage.
The “Áo Bà Ba” performance was part of a series of activities aimed at preserving and promoting Vietnamese cultural values through fashion and the arts. As a symbolic costume of the Mekong Delta, the áo bà ba reflects the rustic charm, gentle elegance, and resilient spirit of Vietnamese people—especially women from the western region.
Through creative choreography and graceful stage presence, DNC students vividly reenacted the everyday beauty of the áo bà ba—from rice fields and rural markets to vibrant local festivals. More than just a fashion show, the performance served as a proud statement of national identity, sparking cultural appreciation among the younger generation.
Blended with traditional music and poetic narration, the performance evoked strong emotional connections and historical significance tied to this iconic garment in Vietnamese life.
The event concluded with thunderous applause, emotional expressions, and a deep appreciation for cultural heritage. Nam Can Tho University continues to affirm its role not only as an academic institution but also as a nurturing ground for students’ creativity and cultural soul through meaningful artistic and cultural initiatives.
