Education Times Newspaper – On the afternoon of July 17, the Can Tho City Department of Education and Training (DOET) convened a Conference on Personnel Appointments for its affiliated units.
Attending the conference was Ms. Tran Thi Huyen – Acting Director of the Department of Education and Training together with the Deputy Directors of the Department; heads of functional divisions; leaders of affiliated units; principals and vice principals of upper secondary schools; as well as directors and deputy directors of Centers for Continuing Education and Vocational Education.
At the event, Mr. Le Truyen Thong, Head of the Organization and Personnel Division of Can Tho DOET, announced the official decisions on appointments and rotations for principals and vice principals of upper secondary schools, as well as directors and deputy directors of Centers for Continuing Education and Vocational Education across the city.
Overview of the Conference
According to statistics, the city currently has 1,232 schools in total. Among them, there are 103 upper secondary schools and multi-level schools (92 public and 11 non-public). In addition, the city has 3 provincial-level Continuing Education Centers and 27 district-level Vocational and Continuing Education Centers.

Speaking at the event, Ms. Tran Thi Huyen – Acting Director of Can Tho DOET, congratulated the newly appointed principals and vice principals of upper secondary schools, as well as directors and deputy directors of Centers for Continuing Education and Vocational Education. She emphasized her expectation that the new leadership team would uphold a strong sense of responsibility, successfully fulfill their duties, and actively contribute ideas to support the Department’s future direction. She affirmed that the Department’s leadership, along with the collective of officials and staff, would remain committed to listening to challenges, recommendations, and proposals in order to achieve common goals.

At the conference, the Can Tho Department of Education and Training (DOET) organized a briefing on Upper Secondary and Continuing Education, while also listening to opinions, feedback, and recommendations from principals and vice principals of upper secondary schools, as well as directors and deputy directors of Vocational and Continuing Education Centers.
Can Tho City currently has a total of 1,232 schools, including 382 preschools and kindergartens (330 public, 52 non-public). The general education system comprises 850 schools, of which 506 are primary schools (501 public, 5 non-public), 241 are lower secondary schools (239 public, 2 non-public), and 103 are upper secondary schools and multi-level schools (92 public, 11 non-public).
The number of civil servant positions assigned to the Department after restructuring is 161 staff members. The education sector has been allocated 42,076 personnel, including 41,388 official staff members and 688 pending recruitment.
In addition, Can Tho City has 1 Center for Inclusive Education Development (formerly under Hau Giang Province); 1 Southern Intermediate Pali Continuing Education School; 3 provincial-level Continuing Education Centers; 27 district-level Vocational and Continuing Education Centers; and 80 vocational education institutions (GDNN).
