Can Tho Newspaper – Starting September 1, Nam Can Tho University Hospital will officially launch its Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system, marking an important milestone in its digital transformation journey toward becoming a modern smart hospital.

The EMR system has been developed in accordance with national healthcare data standards and is fully integrated with the hospital management software and the national health insurance payment portal. It will replace traditional paper-based records with electronic files, while also enabling the storage and transmission of medical imaging and laboratory results in digital form instead of printed films or documents.

The implementation of EMRs brings significant benefits to patients, including reduced waiting times, greater transparency and accuracy in record-keeping, and improved access to personal health information. Patients can conveniently review their medical history, test results, and prescriptions online. For physicians, EMRs provide timely clinical decision support, minimize professional errors, and reduce paperwork, thereby contributing to environmental protection.

Looking ahead, the hospital aims to further expand the digitalization of its medical services in line with its Smart Hospital Strategy for 2025–2030. Alongside this, the hospital will continue strengthening data security, information safety, and digital health workforce training.
