On December 12, 2025 – The Southern Representative Office of the Ministry of Science and Technology organized a scientific workshop titled “Mechanisms for Integrating National Science and Technology Programs with Socio-Economic Development Programs and Local Science and Technology Programs in the Mekong Delta Region” at Nam Can Tho University.
The workshop aimed to introduce and disseminate science and technology programs managed by the Ministry of Science and Technology, while also facilitating exchange and discussion on mechanisms, policies, and solutions for effectively integrating national-level science and technology programs with local socio-economic development and science and technology programs in the Mekong Delta region.

In their remarks at the workshop, delegates emphasized the pivotal role of science, technology, and innovation in enhancing productivity, quality, and competitiveness of the regional economy. They also affirmed the necessity of establishing effective coordination mechanisms and close integration between national-level science and technology programs and the socio-economic development and science and technology programs of each locality.

At the workshop, numerous in-depth presentations were delivered, focusing on key topics such as science and technology policy orientations for regional development; experiences in implementing, managing, and integrating science and technology programs; applied research models linked to local realities; and promoting collaboration among the government, universities, and enterprises in the transfer and application of research outcomes.

Participating in the workshop, Nam Can Tho University presented a paper highlighting its ongoing activities in scientific research, innovation, and digital transformation. The presentation emphasized the role of higher education institutions in linking scientific research with high-quality human resource training, technology transfer, and serving the socio-economic development of the region.

Through the workshop, Nam Can Tho University reaffirmed its development orientation toward an applied university model, promoting scientific research closely aligned with the practical needs of localities and enterprises. The university also emphasized strengthening cooperation with state management agencies, research institutes, and businesses in implementing science and technology programs to support the sustainable development of the Mekong Delta region.
