Can Tho, September 4, 2025 – Nam Can Tho University (DNC) successfully hosted a reception and working session with the Phuong Nam Education delegation and the Manager of the Vietnamese Nursing Program in the Austrian states of Tyrol & Vorarlberg, held at the Yersin Meeting Room of the DNC Institute of Health Sciences. The event reaffirmed DNC’s commitment to expanding international cooperation and enhancing the quality of nursing education.
Amid deeper international integration, the program focused on sharing best practices and creating pathways to internships and employment in developed countries such as Austria, thereby building bridges of knowledge and culture for students.
Attending on behalf of Phuong Nam Education were Mr. Nguyen Huu Thien An – Director of Phuong Nam Education Center, and Ms. Pham Bui Thi Thanh – Director of the Netzwerk Krebs Vorsorge Nachsorge Hospital Association and Program Manager in Tyrol & Vorarlberg, Austria.
Representing Nam Can Tho University were Dr. Nguyen Van Quang – Party Committee Secretary and Rector of DNC; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Hung Luc – Vice Rector; together with leaders of faculties, departments, offices, and affiliated units.

Discussions centered on future cooperation. The two sides exchanged views on the Vietnamese Nursing Training Program in Austria, which includes specialized courses such as Internal Medicine Nursing, Surgical Nursing, Obstetrics, and Pediatrics, as well as practical hospital skills. The three-year program combines theory with clinical internships and aims to qualify graduates for an international professional license. DNC students were introduced to internship opportunities at major hospitals in Tyrol and Vorarlberg, with support from Phuong Nam Education for visa procedures, language training, and cultural orientation.
The meeting also discussed collaboration to develop a joint nursing curriculum between Nam Can Tho University and Austrian universities, aligned with both Vietnamese and Austrian standards, enabling graduates to work in either country. In addition, the parties shared details about a post-graduation degree conversion pathway for employment in Austria, including support for language tuition, visas, and other student benefits.

The session reflected DNC’s spirit of sustainable international cooperation and reaffirmed the University’s commitment to supporting students in accessing high-quality academic programs, thereby strengthening its position in medical education in the Mekong Delta region. The event not only delivered practical value but also inspired young people to pursue careers with a global outlook.
