Today, October 30, 2025, the Trade Union of Nam Can Tho University solemnly held the 3rd Congress of the University’s Grassroots Trade Union for the 2025–2030 term. The event took place in a dignified atmosphere with the full attendance of delegates participating in the congress. 

At the congress, the Grassroots Trade Union of Nam Can Tho University was honored to welcome Ms. Lê Thị Sương Mai – Member of the Can Tho City Party Committee, Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Can Tho City, and Chairwoman of the Can Tho City Confederation of Labor – to attend the event. The congress convened 200 delegates, including the university’s leaders, officials, and staff members, who gathered in a spirit of solemnity and responsibility to represent the voices of all DNC trade union members. During the session, participants reviewed the summary report for the 2023–2025 term and outlined the orientations and key tasks for the 2025–2030 term.

During the past term, Nam Can Tho University has continuously strengthened and developed its team of officials, lecturers, and staff in both quantity and quality, as well as in organizational structure, to meet the demands of educational reform and international integration. By 2025, the university has more than 516 trade union members, with lecturers accounting for the majority — serving as the core force in teaching, research, and knowledge transfer. The university community has demonstrated strong ideological commitment, solidarity, and active participation in emulation movements, cultural, sports, and volunteer activities. Efforts to improve the material and spiritual well-being of staff have been prioritized, contributing to a positive and cohesive working environment. Despite challenges, all officials, lecturers, and staff have upheld a spirit of unity, responsibility, creativity, and dedication — making significant contributions to enhancing the quality of education, scientific research, and affirming the prestige and reputation of the university.

For the 2025–2030 term, the Grassroots Trade Union of Nam Can Tho University has set forth its direction and key objectives in the context of educational reform and global integration. In collaboration with the university, the Trade Union aims to proactively seize opportunities, safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of its members, and improve the material and spiritual well-being of lecturers and staff. It also seeks to promote emulation movements, enhance research and teaching activities, and foster a civilized, creative, and professional working environment. The overarching goal for the 2025–2030 term is to build a strong and comprehensive Trade Union organization, enhance the quality and effectiveness of its operations, strengthen solidarity among members, and contribute to positioning the university as a leading institution in training high-quality human resources for the Mekong Delta region and the nation.

With the action slogan: “Integration – Quality Enhancement – Reputation Affirmation.”

1. 100% of the university’s officials, lecturers, and staff members will participate in studying and thoroughly understanding the resolutions and directives of the Party, as well as relevant legal documents — particularly the Labor Code and other related regulations.
2. The Trade Union will fully implement the grassroots democratic regulations, coordinate with the university administration to organize the annual Laborers’ Conference, and ensure at least one workplace dialogue is held each year.
3. It will strive to maintain and improve the quality of its operations, aiming to uphold the title of an “Outstanding and Strong Grassroots Trade Union.”
4. During this term, the union also endeavors to earn a Certificate of Merit or the Emulation Flag from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.100% of female trade union members will register to
5. participate in the emulation movement “Excellent at Work, Responsible at Home”; each year, more than 70% of them are expected to achieve this title at the grassroots level or higher.
6. 90% of trade union officials will participate in professional training courses to enhance their competence, expertise, and operational skills.
7. Each year, 100% of trade union members will successfully fulfill their assigned duties, with more than 30% achieving outstanding performance. Over 70% of trade union groups are expected to be rated “strong” or higher. All lecturers and staff members who meet the eligibility criteria under the Charter of the Vietnam Trade Union will be admitted to the organization.
8. The Trade Union will encourage all officials, lecturers, and staff to actively participate in Party development and in building a strong, effective institution. During the term, at least 20 exemplary union members will be recommended to the Party for consideration, training, and admission.
9. 100% of trade union members will actively engage in humanitarian and charitable activities initiated by the university and the Trade Union.
10. All members are expected to strictly avoid social vices and uphold the values of a “Cultural Family.”

At the Congress, 11 members were elected to the Executive Committee of the Nam Can Tho University Trade Union for the 2025–2030 term. The Congress reached a high consensus on the list of candidates for the new Executive Committee, with the key leadership positions as follows:

• Đ/c Nguyễn Trí Đạt – Chairman of the Grassroots Trade Union of Nam Can Tho University
• Đ/c Tô Thị Ngọc Trầm – Vice Chairwoman of the Grassroots Trade Union of Nam Can Tho University
• Đ/c Nguyễn Nhật Trường – Member of the Standing Committee of the Grassroots Trade Union of Nam Can Tho University
• In addition, eight other members were elected to serve on the Executive Committee of the university’s Grassroots Trade Union.

The Congress also elected Ms. Tô Thị Ngọc Trầm, Vice Chairwoman of the Grassroots Trade Union of Nam Can Tho University for the 2025–2030 term, as a delegate to attend the higher-level Trade Union Congress. Additionally, Ms. Trần Thị Tuyết Mai, a member of the Executive Committee of the university’s Grassroots Trade Union, was elected as an alternate delegate.

In the new term, the Executive Committee has developed a concrete action plan with clearly defined responsibilities, strengthened supervision and timely commendation, and enhanced coordination among departments to achieve the set objectives. The grassroots Trade Union of Nam Can Tho University is committed to comprehensive innovation to safeguard members’ rights, improve their well-being, and contribute to building a sustainable, integrated, and reputable university within Vietnam’s higher education system.

The Congress concluded in a joyful and enthusiastic atmosphere among all attending delegates.
