DNC- From December 15 to 16, 2024 the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management and , the An Giang Student Union of Nam Can Tho University in collaboration with the Châu Thành District Youth Union in Tây Ninh Province, organized the "Spring Volunteering Campaign 2024-2025." The event focused on meaningful activities aimed at children and poor families in the border areas of Hòa Thạnh and Biên Giới communes in Châu Thành District, Tây Ninh Province.
The campaign featured various impactful activities, including a loving meal providing 200 servings to children and elderly people living alone, career guidance, legal education on traffic safety for students, the construction of a "National Flag Road," lighting up rural streets, and the distribution of 125 Tet gifts to underprivileged families.
Mr Lê Trung Hiếu, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Council of Biên Giới Commune, Châu Thành District, Tây Ninh, shared: "Biên Giới is still facing many difficulties, with its internal traffic infrastructure having a hard-surfaced road ratio of less than 70%. The local schools do not meet national standards, and there is a lack of teaching equipment. Cultural facilities for the spiritual life of the people are still insufficient. The average income per capita is about 15 million VND per year, and the poverty rate is approximately 5.6%. The proportion of people participating in health insurance is still low."
As a result, the people of Biên Giới Commune are in great need of support and assistance from organizations, businesses, and meaningful youth activities to help those in difficult situations and contribute to the stability of social welfare and the local economy.
According to Lê Hữu Nghị, Secretary of the Châu Thành District Youth Union, the campaign included many meaningful activities that practically contributed to the development of the local rural area, aiming to make the area more spacious and cleaner for the upcoming Lunar New Year. Notably, this campaign's "National Flag Road" project carries significant political and social meaning, helping to spread patriotism and national pride among officials, soldiers, and the local people. The "Lighting up Rural Roads" program ensures smoother travel for locals, enhances traffic safety, and maintains security and order in the border region.
