On the morning of January 16, Nam Can Tho University (DNC) solemnly held a ceremony to break ground on the International Student Dormitory project; presented certificates recognizing its achievement of QS Stars 4-Star and UPM 5-Star international ratings; and officially announced the establishment of four member colleges. The event took place in a celebratory atmosphere marking the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam and commemorating the 13th anniversary of Nam Can Tho University (January 25, 2013 – January 25, 2026).
This milestone marks the culmination of 13 years of establishment and development, while affirming Nam Can Tho University’s strategic advancement in innovating its university governance model, enhancing academic quality, and deepening its integration into the global higher education landscape.

The International Student Dormitory is a flagship project in Nam Can Tho University’s infrastructure development strategy, aimed at enhancing service quality and providing a modern, supportive living and learning environment aligned with international integration standards. The project is invested in and developed by Nam Can Tho University, and is designed with a modern, integrated approach to meet accommodation standards for both domestic and international students.
With a total usable floor area exceeding 30,000 square meters, the 15-story facility is designed to accommodate approximately 2,500 students, with a total investment of more than VND 550 billion. Construction is expected to be completed after approximately 1.5 years.
Once operational, the International Student Dormitory will not only address the growing demand for student housing but also serve as an architectural landmark on campus, reflecting Nam Can Tho University’s long-term vision, systematic investment, and strong commitment to education, international integration, and sustainable development.

Within the framework of the ceremony, Nam Can Tho University officially received the QS Stars 4-Star international rating, a prestigious global evaluation system for higher education institutions administered by QS (United Kingdom).
QS Stars is a comprehensive rating system that assesses universities against rigorous criteria, including teaching quality, academic development, research, facilities, internationalization, and adaptability in the digital era. In this evaluation cycle, Nam Can Tho University achieved the maximum score of five stars in several key categories, most notably Teaching and Online Learning.
In addition, the University was also awarded a 5-Star rating under the UPM system by the Institute of Innovation – a benchmarking and ranking framework that evaluates universities in Vietnam and across Asia against stringent international standards.

On this occasion, Nam Can Tho University officially announced the establishment of four member colleges, including: College of Health Sciences; College of Law and Economics; College of Digital Technology and Artificial Intelligence; College of Technology and Engineering.
The establishment of these member colleges underscores the University’s strong commitment to reforming its governance model, enhancing academic specialization, and strengthening institutional management in line with modern, internationally integrated university standards. This strategic move aims to gradually develop flagship academic units with depth, distinct identities, and focused strengths.
This model contributes to the development of an integrated ecosystem encompassing education, research, and technology transfer, strengthening linkages with enterprises and society, and effectively meeting the demand for high-quality human resources in the context of digital transformation and international integration.
