Tap chi dien tu Bau troi mo rong Reports: Post-Covid-19 Production and Business Development

On December 31, 2021, Nam Can Tho University organized the International Conference titled “Recovery and Development of Production and Business of Enterprises in the Mekong Delta Region in the Post-Covid-19 Context.” The conference was held both in-person and online.

The conference saw the participation of leaders from the Can Tho City People’s Committee, various departments, and enterprises from Can Tho City and other provinces in the Mekong Delta (ĐBSCL). Presenters included representatives from institutes and universities both within and outside Vietnam, offering training in economics and finance, such as Chang Gung University - Taiwan, Kasetsart University - Thailand, Malaysia University of Science and Technology, Hanoi National University, Ho Chi Minh City National University, and more.

At the conference, nine reports were presented, focusing on the current state of enterprises affected by the Covid-19 pandemic; solutions for the recovery and development of production and business for enterprises in the Mekong Delta in the post-Covid-19 context; and proposals for policies to stabilize people’s lives and promote local socio-economic recovery and development.

Delegates participate at the central venue – Nam Can Tho University

Can Tho City has implemented numerous solutions for economic recovery, such as issuing an “Electronic Vaccine Passport” for those eligible to travel and engage in production and business activities, facilitating enterprises’ access to preferential credit sources, and providing tax exemptions and reductions for businesses. Dong Thap Province has enhanced administrative reforms to create the best conditions for investors to operate.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Brian Kao from Chang Gung University, Taiwan, shared experiences of Taiwanese companies in decentralizing manufacturing plants, building factories near raw material supply areas and consumer markets to reduce transportation costs. Regarding economic recovery solutions for the Mekong Delta, particularly in tourism, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Duy Huan from Nam Can Tho University stated, “The most important thing is that provinces and cities must always ensure Covid-19 prevention and control measures. Enhance the quality of cooperation and relationships in each link of the tourism supply chain; promote economic development; boost tourism service stimulus programs, prioritizing the domestic market; and strongly apply digital technology in managing the tourism supply chain.”

The organizing committee noted that the conference received 29 reports across various fields such as economics, finance, production, and business. The new knowledge from these 29 reports will be compiled into the conference proceedings, serving as a valuable resource for students, trainees, lecturers, and organizations interested in continuing to control the Covid-19 pandemic effectively; promoting economic restructuring and growth model innovation; reorganizing industries and sectors; improving the investment and business environment and restoring production; enhancing the quality of human resources and ensuring social welfare, contributing to the socio-economic development of the Mekong Delta and the overall development of the country.

Certified by the Center for Education Quality Accreditation – Vietnam Association of Universities and Colleges, and the Center for Education Quality Accreditation – Hanoi National University, Nam Can Tho University (NCTU) received accreditation certificates for four regular undergraduate programs: Pharmacy, Economic Law, Business Administration, and Construction Engineering. Nam Can Tho University is among the top 21 educational institutions rated and accredited internationally under the “University Performance Metrics” (UPM) system, achieving a 3-star standard. Over time, more than 5,500 students have graduated from the university, contributing to the development of Can Tho City and the region. Currently, the university has over 16,500 students and trainees studying and researching.

Standing out with the “Enterprise within University” model, NCTU has established businesses such as Nam Mien Nam Group, Nam Can Tho Unversity Medical Center Co., Ltd., and Nam Can Tho Trading Co., Ltd. This model serves the practical and internship needs of students, allowing young people to gain hands-on experience, improve skills, and enhance professionalism, while also employing graduates. The university has extensive partnerships with entities such as TaTa International Group, ISUZU Group, Vingroup, Philips Vietnam Co., Ltd., Can Tho Central General Hospital, Military Hospital 121, Hau Giang Pharmaceuticals, Viettinbank, HDBank, Misa, Viettel, VNPT, and the Can Tho City Employment Service Center, to train professional and soft skills for students from their first year until graduation, familiarizing them with corporate work environments so they can work as full-time employees after graduation. The university also strengthens ties with businesses to address employment challenges for students.

Prof. Dr. Vo Tong Xuan – Nam Can Tho University, summarizes the conference

Dr. Lawyer Nguyen Tien Dung, Chairman of the Board of Nam Can Tho University, stated: In the first quarter of 2022, Nam Can Tho University Hospital will officially commence operations. With a capacity of 300 beds and an investment of over 800 billion VND, in addition to providing healthcare services for people in Can Tho and the region, the hospital will also serve as a training ground for students in health-related fields. “Improving teaching and learning methods can only be effective when teaching and learning facilities are developed simultaneously, so we continue to focus on infrastructure development. In 2022, the university will continue investing in workshops for production and training in technical and technological fields, such as purified water production and food processing systems. Construction will begin on a 10-story Medical Building with a floor area of over 12,000 m² and a 6-story Software Information Technology Center with a floor area of 6,000 m². In training, the university applies modern teaching methods to foster students’ self-learning and creative capacities. We continue to refine and innovate programs, management practices, teaching methods, and assessment of student learning outcomes,” Dr. Nguyen Tien Dung emphasized.
