DNC – In line with the university's application-oriented teaching and learning approach, on December 5–6, 2024, the Faculty of Architecture – Construction and Environment organized a field trip for two courses: “Solid and Hazardous Waste Management” and “Marine Resource and Environment Management”, with the support of DNC Travel.
During the trip, students from the 9th cohort of Environmental Resource Management (DH21QTL01) had the opportunity to meet and engage directly with the Department of Marine and Island Management under the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Kien Giang Province and EB Environmental Energy Co., Ltd. (Can Tho). Over the course of two days, students gained valuable knowledge in biodiversity, ecology, marine resource conservation, and marine environmental protection—information that helps them analyze social aspects related to the sustainable management and use of marine resources.
In addition, students enhanced their knowledge and skills in designing and managing systems for the collection, transfer, and transportation of solid waste; recycling and treatment of solid waste; identifying hazardous waste by components and properties; ensuring safety in the storage, transport, and management of hazardous waste; and preventing incidents. They also explored the legal and policy frameworks for managing both solid and hazardous waste. These experiences allowed students to assess the current status and procedures in real-world waste management systems and propose solutions to limit environmental pollution and promote sustainable environmental practices.
Alongside professional activities, DNC Travel also organized an exciting sightseeing trip to Hà Tiên for the students. The integration of theory, fieldwork, and internships is a highly valued approach in the training program at Nam Can Tho University. Thanks to the professional organization by DNC Travel—a pioneering unit in developing “enterprise within university”—the trip became a highlight of the academic experience.
