Nam Can Tho International Medical Faculty (NIMF) – under Nam Can Tho University (NCTU) – has been proudly awarded the Excellence in Education Award (Teaching Practice), a prestigious international recognition for pioneering institutions in medical education innovation. NIMF’s curriculum is based on the standards issued by the Vietnamese Ministry of Health while integrating U.S. medical standards, affirming its commitment to delivering internationally accredited medical education that meets rigorous global criteria.
The medical programs of Nam Can Tho University are listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS) and, notably, are among the few non-public university programs in Vietnam to receive the Medical Residency Sponsor Note from the U.S. Department of Health. This allows graduates to apply directly for U.S. residency programs without restarting their training, while also being eligible to sit for the USMLE. This achievement demonstrates the academic quality and strong reputation of NIMF.
To keep pace with global trends, NIMF delivers its programs in English and applies advanced teaching methods such as Clinical Applied Anatomy, SynDaver, Virtual Reality (VR) technology, modern simulation models, and a Pre-clinical Hospital system. The curriculum integrates both U.S. and Vietnamese standards, embedding USMLE content directly into the teaching process to prepare students for global integration.
At the same time, NIMF expands international cooperation, especially with prestigious universities in South Korea, to share knowledge, adopt modern training techniques, and create diverse study opportunities for students.
Looking toward 2030, Nam Can Tho University and its International Medical Faculty are committed to becoming a leading internationally accredited private university in Southeast Asia, with the mission of continuously enhancing educational quality, improving curricula, and contributing positively to the advancement of medicine both regionally and globally.
