With the aim of expanding training space, meeting the increasingly high learning demands of students, and contributing to the development of high-quality human resources for the Mekong Delta region, on January 8, 2026, Nam Can Tho University held a meeting, discussion, and working session with the People’s Committee of An Giang Province regarding the orientation and plans to establish a branch campus of the University in An Giang Province.
Attending the working session on behalf of the An Giang Provincial People’s Committee were representatives of the provincial leadership, including Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of the An Giang Provincial People’s Committee, along with representatives from relevant local departments and agencies.

On behalf of Nam Can Tho University, the delegation included Dr. Lawyer Nguyen Tien Dung – Chairman of the University Council of Nam Can Tho University and Chairman of Nam Can Tho University Medical Center, together with the University’s Board of Management and leaders of affiliated departments, offices, and faculties.

During the discussion, Nam Can Tho University presented an overview of its establishment and development process, training capacity, and its integrated ecosystem of education – healthcare – scientific research. The University also proposed an orientation to establish a branch campus in Rach Gia Ward, An Giang Province, aiming to diversify training disciplines and create favorable conditions for local students to access high-quality higher education directly in their locality. In addition, the University proposed the establishment of a hospital and a nursing home to provide healthcare services and receive elderly citizens for medical care and recreational services.
At the same time, leaders from both sides exchanged and discussed in detail the contents of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), with the aim of aligning orientations, defining the scope of cooperation, and gradually finalizing relevant provisions—serving as a basis for moving toward official signing and implementation in the near future.
In his remarks, Dr. Lawyer Nguyen Tien Dung emphasized the University’s desire to accompany An Giang Province in training human resources, particularly in key fields such as healthcare, health sciences, economics and management, engineering, and technology—thereby contributing to socio-economic development and improving the quality of life for people in the region.

The meeting and discussions took place in an open, constructive, and cooperative atmosphere, demonstrating Nam Can Tho University’s strong determination to expand its training scale in alignment with the practical needs of the locality, as well as the An Giang Province’s interest in and support for the development of higher education.

In the coming period, both sides will continue to coordinate, exchange ideas, and reach consensus on related matters, serving as a foundation for implementing subsequent steps toward the establishment of a Nam Can Tho University branch campus in An Giang Province, thereby contributing to the sustainable development of human resources for the region and the country.
